Step into the cabin and you find yourself in familiar territory, but there are changes. The dashboard is identical to the previous model and the touchscreen infotainment screen has been carried forward as well. The steering is now leather wrapped and feels more premium. It also gets a gloss black insert at the bottom.
The Thar OG comes with an Engine Start/Stop button. The instrument cluster is the same as the previous model. The MID now shows you the terrain and driving modes which the Thar OG comes with. The status of the newly added rear electronic locking differential is also shown on the MID. The glovebox size remains unchanged. Mahindra should have used this opportunity to make it a size bigger. A wireless smartphone charger has been provided on the centre console. The Thar OG still carries on with a manual AC; it skips on automatic climate control. However, I’m not complaining as the manual AC itself is a chiller. Android Auto and Apple Carplay is offered as well. However the Android Auto kept disconnecting at regular intervals. This seems to be a persisting issue on the Thar. Plus Apple Carplay is wired. Why Mahindra? In 2026?
There is new upholstery as well. The Thar OG comes with Truffle Brown leatherette for the seats, front armrest and the door pads. There is perforation as well and overall the new trim gives a cabin a more premium feel.
At the rear, there are soft touch materials used where the passengers will rest their arms. Cup holders have also been provided on both sides. Rear AC vents are carried forward from the outgoing model, while the 12V power outlet has been moved to below the window. There is space below the rear AC vents to store your smartphone.
There is a light provided in the boot on the right side as well along with tie down hooks on both sides. Boot space or the lack of remains the same.
While the feature list has gone up, I still feel Mahindra should have added an auto dimming mirror, auto headlights/wipers, electric folding mirrors and ventilated seats as part of the upgrade package.
