The Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 1.25 crore ex showroom Delhi. It is the first plug-in hybrid SUV to launch in India.
The Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo charged and super charged petrol engine that develops 320 horsepower. The engine powers the front wheels while an electric motor good for 87 horsepower sends power to the rear wheels. The combined power output is 407 horsepower. A 25 horsepower starter motor sits between the petrol engine and the gearbox and helps smooth transition between the two drive modes. Volvo claims a range of 40 km in all electric mode for the XC90 T8 Hybrid.The Volvo XC90 T8 Hybid comes in the new range topping Excellence trim level. It comes in a four seat layout. There are two reclining individual seats at the rear with massage and ventilation function. Each passenger gets retractable touch screens. Other standard equipment includes a refrigerator with bottle and glass holders located in the centre console, hand made crystal glasses and gear knob by the Swedish glass design company, Orrefors and folding tables. It also comes with a 1400W Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 20 speakers. On the exterior the T8 gets 21 inch alloys and chrome trims.
The XC90 Excellence is also the first car in India to come with radar based safety features. Comes with collision warning with full auto braking at high speed, adaptive cruise control and Cyclist pedestrian and large animal detection function.
The Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid will be sold in India as a fully imported CBU.
