The Volvo XC40 has received 5 starts in the 2018 Euro NCAP tests. All tested Volvo cars on sale today have received five stars in their respective Euro NCAP assessments. Last year, the XC60 won the overall best-performing large off-roader and the best overall performer in the Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards while the XC90 received the same accolade in 2015.
The XC40 gets a host of safety features that include adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, pilot assist, ESP, Emergency Braking, eight airbags, traction control, hill descent control and Hill start assist.
The 2018 Euro NCAP testing has been the toughest yet with new and more demanding criteria on safety technology, including cyclist-detection with auto-brake and emergency lane keeping systems. Overall, the new XC40 has scored the highest among all cars tested under the new regime.
The XC40 is powered by a D4 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine that puts out 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of max torque. An eight speed automatic transmission send power to all four wheels.
In India, the Volvo XC40 is available in three trim levels: Momentum, Inscription and R-Design.
