The Volvo XC40 was recently launched in India at Rs. 39.9 lakh for the R-Design trim. Volvo has received 200 orders for the XC40 bringing an end to the introductory price. At the same time, the car maker has launched the Momentum variant at Rs. 39.9 lakh and the Inscription variant at Rs. 43.9 lakh ex showroom. The R-Design now costs Rs. 42.9 lakh ex showroom.
The Xc40 is powered by a D4 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine that puts out 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of max torque. An eight speed automatic transmission send power to all four wheels.
Features on the Volvo XC40 include Thor Hammer daytime running lamps, 18 inch alloy wheels, Sensus touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging for mobile phones 12 speaker 750W Harman Kardon Sound system, power tail gate along with heated front and rear seats.
Even the base Momentum variant gets panoramic Sunroof, AWD, front radar, leather upholstery, 9” centre touchscreen, Hill Descent Control, and rear camera. It misses out on paddle shifters, powered tail gate, Adaptive Cruise Control and Park Assist Pilot
The XC40 gets a host of safety features that include adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, pilot assist, ESP, Emergency Braking, eight airbags, traction control, hill descent control and Hill start assist.
The Volvo XC40 will rival the Mercedes GLA, BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 in India.
