Volvo has launched the V40 Cross Country petrol in India at a price of Rs 27 lakh ex showroom Mumbai. It will be imported and sold as a CBU.

The petrol variant badged T4 gets a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder turbo charged engine putting out 180 horsepower and 240 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic gearbox.

Volvos are always highly rated when it comes to safety. The V40 has got a 5 star rating in the NCAP tests. It gets City Safety technology in which this laser based feature senses emergency situations in advance and precharges the brakes to act faster to avoid a collision. Other standard features include Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, Side Impact Protection System, Whiplash Protection for front passengers, Bi Xenon headlamps which turn up to 15 degrees in either direction,  Safety Cage and driver knee airbag which is a segment first. .

Other features include a choice of single or dual tone interiors, 8 speaker sound system, rear parking sensors, electronic climate control, ambient lighting, electric power steering, powered driver’s seat, keyless entry and go, auto start/ stop and regenerative braking system.

The car gets an 8 inch TFT screen which contains the digital instrument cluster and comes with 3 modes – Elegance, ECO and Performance. The display turns Amberish in Elegance mode, greenish in ECO mode and red in Performance mode.

There are some features seen on the diesel variant that are skipped on the petrol model. The T4 does not get a sunroof, electric adjust for front passenger seat and front parking sensors. 16 inch alloy wheels are standard as against the 17 inch alloys seen on the diesel. Rear view camera is also optional on the petrol car.

Volvo has more launches lined up this year and the next in line will be the new XC90 which Volvo will launch next month.
