Volvo reveals 2015 plans for India
Volvo has an entire range of models in the pipeline for launch in India and has set itself aggressive targets for the year 2015.
Volvo will bring in the standard version of the V40 hatchback to India and will take on the Mercedes A Class and the BMW 1 Series in India. The standard V40 will be powered by the popular D3 diesel engine. Volvo will also introduce a petrol engine in the Cross Country V40. There is good news for petrol heads too. The S60 will make a comeback in the T6 avatar this time will come with a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbocharged engine putting out 304 bhp.
Volvo will launch the all new XC90 SUV in September this year and will start pre bookings for the same in May 2015. It will be offered in 2 trims for the Indian customer. Volvo is targeting 500 hundred orders for the XC90 and plans to deliver 70% of the orders by December 2015.
Volvo plans to sell 2000 units this year and is targeting a growth of 65%. There are plans to expand the dealership network to 20 all over India from the current 14 which are currently operational. Volvo also inaugurated a new dealership in Mumbai with the showroom at Link Road Andheri and a workshop at Saki Naka. The same dealer KIFS Motors plans to open another showroom in South Mumbai by the end of this year.
Volvo currently sells 5 models in India: V40 Cross Country, S60 sedan, S80 sedan, XC60 SUV and the XC90 SUV.
