Volkswagen T-Roc Engine & Performance

Coming to the strongest point of the Volkswagen T-Roc, the engine. It is powered by a 1.5 TSI Evo petrol engine that develops 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of maximum torque. This same engine also powers the Skoda Karoq. The first thing to hit you about this motor is the amazing refinement. It is very silent at normal driving speeds and you don’t feel any lag. It has a fantastic mid-range and loves to be revved. The 7 speed DSG gearbox with its quick shifts makes it a delight to drive. In Sport mode it sounds brilliant too and will easily race to 6000 rpm. And if you are driving in relaxed mode, there’s cylinder deactivation where two cylinders will shut down translating to better fuel efficiency. The compact dimensions make it very easy to drive in the city as well. The steering is light as well. The T-Roc is a great highway cruiser and can keep munching kms at triple digit speeds. Long distance touring will be fun with this crossover.

Volkswagen T-Roc Ride & Handling

The T-Roc gets a stiff suspension setup and that is expected since it is a CBU. Ride quality doesn’t feel the best at low speed with undulations filtering in, but it gets better at higher speeds. It stays firmly planted on the road and there is no body roll. It’s fun putting the T-Roc into corners. The electromechanical steering could do with better feedback though. But it wont really dampen your spirits.
