Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser compact SUV, based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with prices starting at Rs.8.40 going up to Rs. 11.30 lakh ex showroom ex showroom Delhi. It is available in 3 variants.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser range starts from the Mid variant. The feature list includes LED projector headlamps and tail lamps, LED daytime running lamps, two din audio system with Bluetooth, keyless entry, and auto climate control. The top end premium variant gets a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, auto dimming IRVM, rain sending wipers and cruise control. keyless go and 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Looks wise the Urban Cruiser’s distinguishing factor is a Fortuner style front grille. The rest of the design is nearly identical to the Vitara Brezza.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is powered by a 1.5 litre four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, that also does duty in the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It develops 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, Speed Alert system and Reverse camera.
Toyota offers a standard warranty of 3 years/ 1,00,000 kms on the Urban Cruiser.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the second model to be launched under the Toyota-Suzuki global Alliance. The first model was the Glanza hatchback based on the Baleno.
