Tata Tigor EV Charging
The battery of the Tigor EV can be charged in two ways i.e DC fast charger or 15A normal charger. The 25 kW DC fast charger will take approximately 65 minutes and 15A will take just over 8 hrs. These figures are 0-80% charge. Most EV manufacturers recommend using more of the standard 15A chargers and not DC chargers.
Apart from the standard charger installed at your home, you can charge the EV using fast charger placed at various locations. How to find one? Well, its easy. Install the EZ Charge App and it will show chargers installed near your current location. Add the money in EZ Wallet; select the charge in terms of amount, time for a charge, percentage for a charge and units. An estimate is shown prior to charge starts. Don’t worry incase you get a call and cannot wait to finish the whole duration. You will be charged only on the basis of the power consumed. We tried first hand at an Indian Oil Fuel Station. We initially selected 20 minutes of charge but decided to stop at 15 minutes. We were only charged for those 15 minutes consumed. Charging isn’t complicated process. The app is very friendly and simple to use.
Tata Tigor EV Ride, Handling and Safety
The Tigor EV weighs more than the regular car due to battery pack. But this doesn’t affect the handling dynamics. It’s very easy to drive around in city, the steering is light and weighs up nicely at high speeds. Coming to the ride quality, the Tigor EV handles the road undulations well. The extremely bad patches do filter in but overall ride quality is typical Tata like, comfortable and compliant.
In terms of safety, the Tigor scored 4-star Global NCAP crash rating and the Tigor EV is no different. Airbags, ABS with EBD is standard on the car. The brakes felt a bit spongy and not as sharp as we would like. This doesn’t mean the brakes are lacklustre but could have been more responsive.
