Tata Motors has rolled off the first batch of their upcoming compact SUV, the Nexon from its Ranjangaon facility. The Tata Nexon is the fourth car that comes under the company’s IMPACT design philosophy. The Tata Nexon will be powered by a petrol and diesel engine. The 1.2 litre turbo charged 3 cylinder petrol unit comes from the Revotron family of engines and develops 110 horsepower at 5000 rpm and maximum torque of 170 Nm between 2000 – 4000 rpm. The 1.5 litre Revotorq 4 cylinder diesel engine makes 110 horsepower at 3750 rpm and 260 Nm torque between 1500-2750 rpm. Both engines are mated to a six speed TA6300 synchromesh gearbox.
There will be three drive modes: Eco, City and Sport. The Eco mode has been designed to offer a better fuel economy, the City mode has optimum balance between power and torque for daily city driving. The Sport mode features superior throttle response and is suited for spirited driving.
Tata Motors will soon be dispatching the cars to the dealerships across the country in a phased manner and the Nexon will have its market launch during this festive season.
