When Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV in January 2020, little did we know (or even Tata themselves for that matter know) that the car maker’s first proper mass market EV will go on to be such a huge success. Infact, the Nexon was the perfect model for Tata to begin their electrification journey. And its nice to see how so many people are taking to EVs. There are just so many of Nexon EVs on the road. And the best part is, its not just city driving but owners are taking their cars on long road trips; albeit with some planning. And things are getting even better now. Say hello to the Tata Nexon EV Max. With a more powerful battery and longer range, this one is sure to make more people electrify their mobility. So how much better is it over the standard version? I spent a day driving it in all scenarios to bring in this report.
Tata Nexon Ev Max Battery
To begin with, let’s start the heart of the matter. The Nexon EV Max gets a new 40.5 kWh battery pack. Power output now stands at 143 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Tata claims an ARAI range of 437 kms on a single charge. What’s more, you also have the option of 7.2 kWh charger with the updated car. There have been modifications done to the floor to accommodate the bigger battery pack and that has resulted in a decrease in ground clearance which now stands at 190mm as compared to 205mm on the standard Nexon EV. It is also heavier by 100 kg.
Tata Nexon Ev Max Exterior
On the outside, there isn’t anything substantial to distinguish the Nexon EV Max from the standard version. There is no ‘Max’ badging anywhere, what you do get are new design 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. You also get a new paint shade called Intensi-Teal that you see here on the test car. Other colour options include Daytona Grey and Pristine White. Only 3 colours on offer for now. I won’t be surprised if a Dark Edition of the Max is introduced soon. The Tata Dark Editions are very popular and the blue highlights really stand out on the Dark Edition Nexon EV.
