The Tata Nexon EV electric SUV has been officially revealed prior to its market launch in early 2020. Bookings for the EV open tomorrow i.e December 20, 2019 for an amount of Rs. 21,000.
The Nexon EV gets some styling changes that includes a new fascia. There are new headlamps with a new design for the daytime running lamps, a black element in place of the front grille, EV badging on the front door and the tailgate, new 16 inch alloy wheels and there is a dual tone roof as well. The new styling changes are expected in the IC engined Nexon soon. The Nexon comes in a new Electric Teal paint job. The Nexon EV will be offered in three paint options.
On the interior, the Nexon EV gets a part digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, dual tone interiors, flat bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather, umbrella holder in the front doors, electric sunroof, auto headlamps and wipers and new design upholstery for the seats.
The Tata Nexon comes equipped with Tata’s new Ziptron EV technology. It features a 30.2 KWh battery pack that is dust proof and water proof. Power output is 129 hp and 245 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 kph in 4.6 seconds and 0 to 100 kph in 9.9 seconds. Tata motors claims a 300+ km range on a full charge. The battery of the Nexon e-SUV comes with an IP67 rating as well.
As far as charging goes, it gets fast charging and using a DC fast charger (compatible with CCS2) can take it from 0-80 percent charge in just 1hour. Using a standard 15A AC charger, it will take between 8-9hr to reach a full charge. The Nexon EV also gets Hill Assist and Hill Descent Control.
Standard safety features include dual front airbags and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
When launched, prices for the Tata Nexon EV will be in the range of Rs. 15-17 lakh rupees (ex showroom).
