The Rolls Royce Dawn is set to launch in India on June 24, 2016. The Dawn is a soft top convertible that is based on the Wraith.
The Dawn has 80 percent new body panels and only the grille and doors have been taken from the Wraith Coupe. Rolls Royce claims that it is the quietest soft top convertible in the world. The Dawn’s soft top can open or close in 22 seconds up to a speed of 50 kph. The Dawn is 5285 mm long, 1947 mm wide, 1502 mm high and has a wheelbase of 3112 mm. At 2560 kg, it is 200 kg heavier than the Wraith
The Dawn gets Bespoke Audio that has been fine tuned by Rolls Royce engineers. Whether the roof is open or closed, Bespoke Audio ensures perfect acoustic balance and performance. Sixteen individually-tuned speakers, with both theatre and studio settings, deliver a pure ‘larger than live’ sensation. Two bass speakers located in the boot complement seven tweeters meticulously placed throughout the cabin. The system utilizes a highly sensitive microphone to constantly monitor ambient exterior noise, subtly adjusting the volume and tone settings accordingly to ensure the system delivers consistent perfection. The technology complements this, with frequency and phase correction for individual speakers eliminating potential loud and dead spots caused by outside influences.
Power comes from a 6.6 litre V12 petrol engine that develops 563 bhp at 5250 rpm and 780 Nm torque at 1500 rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF eight speed automatic gearbox. The Dawn goes from 0 to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds and has a limited top speed of 250 kph. The Dawn comes shod with run flat tyres mounted on 20 inch alloy wheels. The car can run on a deflated tyre for upto 160 kms at a maximum speed of 80 kph. 21 inch wheels are available as an option.
