New Range Rover Velar teased prior to unveil
The new Range Rover Velar has been teased prior to its official unveil in March 1, 2017.
The Range Rover Velar will sit between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. The Velar that has been in the works for quite some time is expected to sport a coupe design based on the original Range Rover SUV.
The company says that the Velar name is derived from the original Range Rover prototypes of 1969. It is said that when development engineers needed to hide the true identity of the 26 pre-production Range Rovers, they chose the name Velar, derived from the Latin velare meaning to veil or cover. The Range Rover Velar is expected to come with all the bells and whistles seen on the bigger Range Rovers. These include luxurious interiors, loads of features including Land Rover’s Terrain Response system and latest infotainment system.
The Velar could come with a range of petrol and diesel engines. Full details will be known once the car breaks cover on March 1.
The Range Rover Velar will rival the Mercedes GLC Coupe, BMW X4 and the Porsche Macan in the international market. Expect an India launch next year.
