The new Range Rover Velar has been officially revealed ahead of its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The Velar sits between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the model line up.
The Range Rover Velar is 4,803mm long, 1,930mm wide, has height of 1,665mm with a wheelbase of 2,874mm. It shares the wheelbase and aluminium architecture with the Jaguar F-Pace. Styling is similar to that of the Evoque and the RR Sport but has more smoother curves. The Velar features Matrix-Laser LED Headlights that extend the range of the beam to 550 meters. There are flushed door handles and copper detailing on the front bumper blades and fender vents. On the interior, the Range Rover Velar comes with 12.3 TFT screen for the digital instrument cluster and two 10 inch touch screen displays. There is a new infotainmet system called “Touch Pro Duo”. It features an Intel quad core processor, high-speed 60GB solid-state drive and ultra-fast Ethernet network. It comes with a 1600 W Meridian sound system and eight devices can be connected to the onboard WiFi hot spot. Standard boot space stands at 632 litres that can go up to 1731 litres with the seats folded.The Velar offers a sustainable, premium textile seat material as an alternative to leather upholstery, which is unique to the segment. The Dapple Grey material was developed together with Kvadrat, Europe’s leading manufacturer of high-quality design textiles, and is complemented with Suedecloth inserts.Five engine options will be offered on the Range Rover Velar at launch. These include the 2.0 litre 180 horsepower Ingenium diesel and 380 horsepower 3.0 supercharged V6 petrol motor. A 300 horsepower Ingenium petrol unit will be added to the Velar range later this year. The Velar comes with the Terrain Response 2 all wheel drive system, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and 650 Nm of water wading capability.
Expect the Range Rover Velar to reach Indian shores early next year.
