porsche_panamera_11The second generation Porsche Panamera has been officially unveiled in Berlin Germany. The new car is expected to hit Indian shores early next year.

The new generation Porsche Panamera comes with more sharper styling than its predecessor. Dimensions wise, the car is 5,049 mm (+34 mm) long, 1,937 mm (+6 mm) wide and 1,423 mm (+5 mm) tall. The wheelbase has been increased by 30 mm to 2,950 mm. The height above the rear in the cabin has been reduced by 20 mm, but maintains good headroom at the same time. The front wheels have been shifted forward resulting in a shorter front overhand. The rear overhang is longer than before.porsche_panamera_12The new Panamera is based on the second generation of Porsche’s MSB (Modular Standard Architecture) platform. There is an A-shaped air intake, which extends out to the sides creating a completely new front-end design. It features LED headlamps along with four-point LED daytime running lights available in three versions. Parts like the bonnet, boot, roof and wings are made entirely of aluminium. The side windows have also been redesigned. The flared wheel arches make space for the 19-inch (4S/4S Diesel), 20-inch (Turbo) and optional 21-inch alloy wheels that are available on the Panamera.

The rear features three-dimensional LED rear lights with integrated four-point brake lights. The rear lights are interconnected by a narrow LED strip. The boot features electric opening and closing as standard, and the extendible rear spoiler is now finished in body colour. On the Panamera Turbo, the wing also splits as it extends, thereby gaining additional surface area. The Panamera 4S and 4S Diesel get round tailpipes, while the Panamera Turbo features trapezoidal tailpipe trims.porsche_panamera_06The interior features a completely new design with  touch-sensitive surfaces and high resolution in many areas. Porsche the interior is design is a continuation of the digitization of the Porsche interior that began with the 918 Spyder. The Panamera features the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit with two 7-inch displays placed directly in the driver’s line of sight for ideal ergonomics. The centre console features the 12.3-inch touchscreen of the next generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The driver and front passenger can configure this display individually. A new control panel with touch-sensitive switches on the centre console enables intuitive control of various functions. The he louvres of the central air vent can be electrically adjusted by touch-sensitive sliders. Rear passengers can control the AC and infotainment functions using an optional four-zone automatic climate control system. The rear seats can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split. Standard boot space is 495 litres that goes up to 1,304 litres with the rear seats folded down. Other optional equipment includes a panoramic tilt roof, massage seats, ambient lighting and a Burmester 3D high-end sound system.
