Mahindra has announced that the all new Mahindra Thar will be unveiled on 15th August 2020. While it was supposed to unveiled much earlier this year, the plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to come with a BS 6 compliant 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine good for 140 horsepower. A new petrol engine from Mahindra’s new mStallion family of engines is also expected to make its way into the Thar’s engine bay. The engines will come mated to a six speed manual gearbox and an automatic variant is expected at a later date.
The new Thar will come with a long list of features. These would comprise an MID in the instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, manual air conditioning and power folding mirrors. A factory fitted hardtop variant is also on the cards.
Standard safety features on the new Thar will include dual airbags and ABS. A rear view camera is expected on the higher variants.
The new gen Mahindra Thar is expected to launch in the Indian market in September or October this year.
