BMW has launched the all new 8 Series in India. It will be available as the Gran Coupe in two variants: The 840i Grand Coupe is priced at Rs. 1.30 crore and the 840i Gran Coupe M Sport comes at Rs. 1.55 crore ex showroom. Additionally BMW has also launched the M8 Coupe at Rs. 2.15 crore.
The 840i Gran Coupe comes powered by a BS VI 3.0 litre in line six cylinder petrol engine that develops 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 5.2 seconds and the engine comes mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. Adaptive Suspension enables individual response behavior for each wheel at the touch of button. Using the Driving Experience Control, the driver is able to choose between different driving modes to suit the driving conditions (Comfort, Sport, Sport+).
The BMW 8 Series Grand Coupe gets all LED headlamps, double kidney front grille, flared wheel arches along with a sloping roof line. The rear features a wider tack, a sports exhaust system and wrap around LED tail lamps.
The interior features electrically adjustable Sports seats, instrument panel, door trims finished in premium Leather Walknappa, two part panoramic sunroof, six design ambient lighting and surround sound audio. Luggage space stands at 440 litres with a 40:20:40 split backrest.
The M-Sport Edition gets BMW Laser Lights and the ‘M Aerodynamics’ package features extra-large air intakes, specially designed side skirts and rear apron with diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic, 19″ M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style, M lettering, two chrome exhaust tips and various M interior equipment features.
On the interior it gets multifunction seats for driver and co-driver, instrument panel / door upper trim finished in Leather Walknappa while a choice of colors combinations is available in the exclusive BMW Individual extended leather trim ‘Merino’. M Leather Steering Wheel.
The M8 Coupe is powered by a BS VI 4.0 litre twin turbo 8 cylinder engine that develops 600 hp and 750 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 3.3 seconds, The engine is mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels via the M xDrive all wheel drive system.
The new setup menu of BMW M8 allows the driver to change driving dynamics independently by making adjustments to the behavior of the chassis, braking, all-wheel drive and steering. Using the M Setup, the driver can further improve driving dynamics, be it comprehensive driving stabilisation, controlled sporty ‘M dynamic mode’ or complete deactivation of all driving stabilizing systems. A new introduction for the BMW M8 Coupe comes in the shape of the M Mode selector on the center console. It adjusts the contents of the instrument cluster displays and the Head-Up Display and can be used to activate the ROAD and SPORT settings.

Safety features include six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor and ISOFIX child seat mounting for the two outer rear seats.
