The new 2016 BMW 7 Series has been spotted in Goa during a private preview event for prospective customers. The new 7 Series made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to hit Indian showrooms sometime next year.
The new 7 Series is 130 kg lighter than its predecessor due to the use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CRPF) in its construction. Features on the new car include LED or optional laser headlamps, LED tail-lamps, updated iDrive 5.0 infotainment system featuring touch and gesture control, four zone climate control, Bowers & Wilkins sound system, multi function steering wheel, massage seats and rear seat entertainment. It also comes with radar based safety functions but it remains to be seen if that option will be available on the India spec car.
The new 7 Series is likely to come with two engine options for India. A 3.0-litre, 6 cylinder diesel putting out 261 bhp and 620 Nm torque and a 4.4-litre, 8 cylinder petrol good for 444 bhp and 650 Nm torque.
The new BMW 7 Series will rival the Mercedes Benz S-Class, the Audi A8 and the Jaguar XJ in the Indian market.
