MG’s purported all-electric SUV called the eZS has been spotted testing on the road in camouflage. MG had earlier expressed interest in launching an electric car as its second offering after the new Hector.
The eZS debuted in the Guangzhou motor show. It is built on the same platform as MG’s ZS SUV but swaps the more manly fossil fuel powered engine for a tree hugger friendly electric motor that makes 150 hp and claims to propel the car from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.1 seconds. A single charge can take you up to 335 km, but it is yet to be seen if the Indian versions will get the same powertrain.
Aesthetically, the car is mostly similar to the ZS, except for a special blue paint, five-spoke alloys, eZS badging and a charging port that lurks under the front grille. MG has confirmed that their connected car feature, the iSmart will be preloaded in the eZS.
The car is expected to touch Indian soil in December this year.
