Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard launched at Rs. 10.50 crore
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 10.50 crore ex showroom Delhi. This the first passenger car to come certified with VR10 ballistic production level.
The car is 5453 mm long and has a wheelbase of 3365 mm, making it 20 cm larger in both dimensions than the S-Class with long wheelbase.The rear seats have been repositioned further back, which adds to privacy. The VR10 certified barge has bodywork and windows that can withstand hardened steel core bullets fired from an assault rifle. It features special aramid and PE components along with polycarbonate coating for the windows for splinter protection. The windows have outstanding visual characteristics, despite their laminated structure. In an explosion takes place at the side of the car, the armouring protects the occupants as effectively as it does in an assault with explosives beneath the vehicle. The underbody armouring covers the underbody under the occupant compartment, which the company says is a unique feature in the civilian special-protection segment.
Apart from the VR10 certification, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard also has an ERV 2010 rating (Explosive Resistant Vehicles).
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is powered by a 6.0 V12 petrol engine that develops 530 horsepower at 4900 to 5300 rpm with 830 Nm torque between 1900 to 4000 rpm. The car goes from 0 to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds and has a restricted top speed of 190 kph. The engine is mated to a 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox . Other Guard specific options available on the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard are opaque roller blids all round at the rear, heated windshield and side windows, panic alarm system, fire extinguisher with automatic activation, emergency fresh air system, hydraulic power for the heavy side windows and LED reading lamps at the rear.
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard has been launched in India within 15 days of its international debut making it the fastest ever launch of a car from Mercedes’ global portfolio. The Mercedes-Benz India Guard portfolio comprises of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard and the S-Class S600 Guard. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is the most expensive car in the company’s India portfolio.
