The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has been launched in India at Rs 2.25 crore. Available in a single EQS 680 guise, it is the first electric Mercedes to wear the Maybach badge.

It gets dual electric motors that put out 658hp and 950Nm of torque, sending power to all four wheels via the 4Matic AWD system. It goes from from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 210kph, It has a WLTP-certified range of up to 611 km on a single charge.   

In addition to the standard driving modes—ECO, SPORT, OFFROAD, and INDIVIDUAL—the SUV offers the exclusive MAYBACH driving programme, prioritizing rear passenger comfort by minimizing body
movements and oscillations. This mode is the standard setting, enhancing overall ride quality.

Up front the EQS680 SUV gets a massive grille with vertical thin chrome strips and has the Maybach lettering etched in chrome. A three pointed star sits atop the bonnet. It gets Digital headlights connected by an LED light strip. It also gets dual tone optional paint. It also gets the option of 21 or 22 inch Maybach wheels. At the rear a light bar connects the LED tail lamps.

On the inside the dashboard layout is quite similar to that of the EQS sedan. It gets the MBUX Hyperscreen with zero layer interface. Highlights include an animated instrument cluster in “MAYBACH” mode, with rose gold surrounds and a silk scarf-like movement of the pointers. The central display offers intuitive interaction, with options to customize display styles and modes.

At the rear you get two 11.6 inch screen displays with the MBUX system, rear seat entertainent, a portable tablet to access all controls. The cabin features Nappa leather with MANUFAKTUR options for even more luxury.

Highlighted features include auto comfort doors at the front and rear, Active Ambient Lighting offering 253 controllable LEDs and 64 color options, ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL Plus with a HEPA filter, 4 D Burmester sound system featuring Dolby Atmos with 15 speakers, including bass speakers, 3D
speakers, and seat exciters. It gets AIRMATIC air suspension that can raise and increase the ground clearance by 25 mm. Another highlight is rear axle steering with up to 4.5 degrees of movement and an optional 10-degree turn, reducing the turning circle to 11.0 meters.

Coming to the charging, With a 200kW DC fast charger, the EQS SUV’s 122kWh battery can be charged from 10 percent level to 80 percent in 31 minutes. Mercedes says that a range of 300 km can be achieved in just 20 minutes of charge. Mercedes will be offering a new 22kW wall box charger with the electric SUV.
