Mercedes-Benz India has launched the locally assembled GLC SUV in both petrol and diesel versions. The ‘Made In India’ GLC will be produced at the company’s plant in Chakan, Pune. The Mercedes GLC 220d is powered by familiar 2.1 litre four cylinder diesel engine that develops 170 horsepower and 400 Nm, while the GLC 300 gets a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol motor putting out 245 horsepower and 370 Nm torque. Both engines are mated to Mercedes’ 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. The petrol GLC does the 0 to 100 kph sprint in 6.5 seconds while the diesel takes 8.3 seconds. You get five driving modes and three off-road modes (Off Road, Incline, Slippery) in the GLC. It also comes with Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR). Mercedes 4Matic all wheel drive system is standard on the GLC.
The localised GLC misses out on some features of the CBU Edition 1 models like three zone climate control, standard navigation, memory seats and electronic tail gate. The Mercedes GLC is available in Style and Sport variants for the diesel variant and Sport variant for the petrol model. Features across the variants include a panoramic sunroof, 12 V plug socket, storage package including lockable cargo floor ambient lighting with three colours, door sills with ‘Mercedes-Benz lettering, keyless go, Active Park Assist and reverse camera.
The Mercedes GLC has got 5 star rating in the EURO NCAP tests. SAfety features include 7 airbags, PRE-SAFE, Crosswind assist, Adaptive brake lights, and ESP Curve Dynamic Assist.
The GLC is offered with service packages starting at Rs. 63,000 for the petrol model and 78,000 for the diesel. These packages are offered with unlimited milege.
The GLC is 9th model in Mercedes-Benz India’s locally assembled portfolio that includes the E-Class, C-Class, S-Class, S500 Maybach, CLA Class, GLA Class, GLE and GLS.
