German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz will roll out the ‘Made in India’ GLC SUV on 29th September 2016. The Mercedes GLC was launched in India in June earlier this year and was initially sold as fully imported CBU.
The Mercedes GLC 220d is powered by familiar 2.1 litre four cylinder diesel engine that develops 170 horsepower and 400 Nm, while the GLC 300 gets a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol motor putting out 245 horsepower and 370 Nm torque. Both engines are mated to Mercedes’ 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. The petrol GLC does the 0 to 100 kph sprint in 6.5 seconds while the diesel takes 8.3 seconds. You get five driving modes and three off-road modes (Off Road, Incline, Slippery) in the GLC. It also comes with Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR). Mercedes 4Matic all wheel drive system is standard on the GLC.
On the exterior, the Mercedes GLC gets a twin slat grille, Intelligent LED headlamps, Edition 1 badging on the front fenders and LED tail lamps. The interior is similar to that of the C-Class sedan. Standard features include three zone climate control, Mercedes’ latest COMMAND infotainment system, Garmin SD card Navigation system, nappa leather upholstery, ambient lighting in three colours and five dimming levels, Active Park Assist and a panoramic sunroof.
The Mercedes GLC rivals the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60 in the Indian market.
