Mercedes GLC India launch on June 2, 2016
The Mercedes GLC SUV is all set to be launched in India on June 2, 2016. The GLC was officially unveiled earlier this year at the Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi.
The GLC is based on Mercedes’ new Modular Rear Architecture platform and continues with Mercedes’ new design language. The front resembles the new C-Class and you can order LED headlamps as an option. The front bumper comes with an integrated underguard and the rear gets dual exhaust and split LED tail lamps.
The interior gets a free standing tab style screen for the COMMAND infotainment system, which can be operated by a touchpad on the centre console. The touchpad also permits letters, numbers and special characters to be entered in handwriting – in any language supported by Audio 20 or COMAND Online. The AC vents come with a metallic “cool touch” effect. A large panoramic roof can be ordered as an option. Boot space is increased to 580 litres over the GLK and with the rear seats folded, cargo space goes to 1600 litres.
The India spec GLC will be powered by a 2.1 litre diesel engine and will be mated to a nine speed automatic gearbox.
The Mercedes GLC will sit between the GLA and GLE in the company’s SUV portfolio and will rival the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60 in the Indian market
