Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new sales model called the ‘Retail of the Future’. It is a direct to customer sales model, which will make the whole buying process easier.

Under this new sales initiative, Mercedes-Benz India will keep the entire stock of cars and will sell directly to the customer. Dealers will not purchase cars from Mercedes-Benz and keep in inventory. Some key highlights for the customer and dealers are as follows:

Customer:

The customer will be buying the car directly from Mercedes-Benz India. The newly purchased car will be invoiced from the car maker itself and not the dealer. Customers will be offered a single price across all dealers, so that will negate negotiations by dealers to match match or offer lower prices. Since the stock with Mercedes itself, the customer will have a large choice of cars to choose from, unlike limited inventory that used to be stocked by the dealer. The sale and delivery will still happen through the dealer.

Dealer:

Dealers will have a big advantage of not having to invest and purchase cars in advance. This lessens the risk for them when the market is at a a low and moving stock from the inventory becomes difficult. Moving forward, dealers will get rating on the customer service experiences and the sales and delivery experience.

Mercedes-Benz India plans to implement the ‘Retail of the Future’ sales model from Q4 2021.

As far as products go, Mercedes-Benz will stick to its plan of launching 15 new models in 2021. The car maker has announced today that it will launch the GLS Maybach SUV next week.
