In what is big news, Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it will commence local assembly of AMG models at the Chakan plant in Pune. The first model to roll off the assembly line in India will be the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 4Matic Coupe.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine that develops 367 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. It can do the 0 to 100 kph sprint in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph. The motor is mated to a 9G Tronic automatic gearbox.
The locally produced AMG GLC43 Coupe will come with the latest MBUX infotainment system.

This decision is an important milestone towards strengthening our AMG ambitions in India further.”
Mercedes-Benz India first introduced AMG models in India in the year 2010 and till date were sold as CBUs. The current AMG portfolio in India comprises the 43, 53, 63, and GT series of models. AMG has grown by 54% YoY in 2019 in India.
While the CBU version of the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe would cost around Rs. 1 crore, the locally produced version is expected to cost Rs. 80 lakh.
