After a successful 15 in 15 production launch strategy this year, Mercedes-Benz is wasting no time in adding new products to its India portfolio. The car maker will bring in the new year by launching the GLE 450 AMG Coupe in India on January 12, 2016.
The GLE Coupe has crossover styling and is a direct competitor to the BMW X6. The front end looks similar to the standard GLE SUV (formerly the ML Class) and the rear end gets its own distinctive styling. It gets LED headlights, plastic body cladding, dual exhaust system and 20 inch alloys as standard with an option for 21 or 22 inch wheels.
On the interior the GLE Coupe gets sports seats, sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and latest version of the COMMAND infotainment system.
Power comes from a twin turbo 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine that develops 362 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. It does the 0 to 100 kph sprint in a claimed 5.7 seconds. The engine is mated to a nine speed automatic gear box with five drive modes: Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. It is equipped with Mercedes 4MATIC all wheel drive system.
The GLE 450 AMG Coupe will be sold as a fully imported CBU.
