Mercedes-Benz calls the GLB a baby GLS and I can see why. A first glance and it surely gives you the GLS vibes.
Mercedes-Benz GLB & EQB Interior
The interiors of the GLB and EQB are plush and similar to any modern day Mercedes. There are two 10.25 inch screens for the infotainment and the instrument cluster. I have always been a fan of the turbine style AC vents. As a differentiating factor, the AC vents of the EQB were finished in Rose Gold. While the GLB has a tachometer, the EQB displays EV specific details on the instrument cluster. The EQB features upholstery made from sustainable materials as well. And there is some Rose Gold treatment on the EQB seats as well. The black upholstery in the GLB also feels premium. The Nappa leather steering wheel is nice to hold and you get touch buttons for the various functions. The graphics on the infotainment system are crisp and the MBUX is very easy to use and responsive. In the EQB you also get ambient lighting in the panel above the glovebox. The features list across both the SUVs include a dual sunroof dual zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging pad, 10 speaker sound system ( no Burmester here), powered tail gate, electric front seats with memory.
Coming to seats, I found the front seats to be very comfortable and finding the perfect driving position was easy. Coming to the middle row, it can slide forward by 140 mm to liberate space in the third row. The backrest also reclines by 25 degrees. Knee room and legroom is decent but when it comes to the EQB, you do sit a bit with your knees up dur to the higher floor. The third row is best for kids, pre-teens and your pets and this comes from Mercedes themselves. They couldn’t be more true. Talking about space for adults makes no sense then. A short drive of few kms might just be ok, not more than that.
So what about boot space? With all three rows up, the GLB has 130 litres while the EQB has 110 litres. That’s pretty much next to nothing. With the third row folded, you get 500 litres in the GLB and 465 litres in the EQB. Go further and fold the second row and what you get is upto 1600 litres.
