The Mercedes-AMG GT S has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 2.40 crore ex showroom Delhi. The car was unveiled by five time DTM champion Bernd Schneider who was present at the event.
The AMG GT share similar styling cues with that of the SLS AMG. It gets a long bonnet and short tail in typical tourer style. However the iconic gullwing doors of the SLS have made way for conventional door layout in the interest of weight saving. The AMG GT is second car to be developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG after the SLS.
The AMG GT is powered by a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 503 bhp in the S version. It does the 0 to 100 kph sprint in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 310 kph. The car has a rear wheel drive layout and the engine is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox that drives the rear wheels. The Drive Model Selector offers 5 modes – Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race and Individual.
Other features include AMG Sports seats with nappa leather options, Burnester sound system, COMMAND infotainment system, 8 airbags, launch control, stability control, PRE-SAFE, adaptive brake lights, adjustable dampers and red brake callipers. Carbon ceramic brakes are available as an option.The AMG GT S can be customized in 10,000 different ways through Mercedes’ ‘designo’ program with options for upholstery, trims, seat stitching and alloy wheels. There is a choice of seven exterior paint finishes.
The AMG GT is the 14th launch from Mercedes Benz India this year and the 5th AMG product to be launched in India in 2015.
