Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe unveiled with updated GT and GT S at Detroit
The Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe has been revealed at the Detroit Motor Show along side updated versions of the GT and GT S models.
The AMG GT C Coupe uses a reworked version of the 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine and the motor now develops 557 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. The car goes from 0 to 100 kph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 317 kph. The rear track of the AMG GT C is 57 mm wider than the AMG GT and AMG GT S, matching dimensions of the AMG GT R. The wider rear apron of the AMG GT C improves the airflow at the rear. Like the AMG GT and AMG GT S, the rear aerofoil is integrated into the luggage compartment flap and is electrically extended or retracted at predetermined speeds, depending on the selected drive mode. The GTC gets AMG Ride Control sports suspension with adaptive and adjustable dampers and an electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential. The Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe will launch as an exclusive special Edition 50 model to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the company. The Edition 50 will be available in two exclusive special paint finishes: designo graphite grey magno and designo cashmere white magno. The exterior features black chrome highlights on the side skirts, the front splitter, the trim strips in the air inlets of the Panamericana grille, the fins on the side air outlets in the front wings, the moulding on the rear diffuser and the exhaust tailpipe trims. The cross-spoke AMG forged wheels are also finished in black chrome.The interior features a contrast of black and silver. The cabin comes with STYLE exclusive nappa leather in silver pearl/black with grey diamond-patterned contrasting topstitching, the black AMG Performance steering wheel is finished in DINAMICA microfibre with grey contrasting topstitching, “Edition” lettering on the steering wheel bezel and 12 o’clock mark in silver pearl. The Edition 50 the AMG Interior Night package as standard, which includes such features as steering wheel spokes, shift paddles and door sill panels in black. There are silver seat belts and black chrome trim and the headrests of the AMG Performance seats are embossed with “GT Edition 50”.
