The motor sounds quite amazing for a V6 and its feels really easy to drive even at moderate speeds.
Mclaren has been the talk of the year so far. And for good reason. They have really upped their game in Formula 1 and are strong contenders for the championships this season. And as someone who has been a Formula 1 fan since decades, the resurgence of this legendary team is something that has me pleased. And with F1 tech now trickling down to road cars, this manufacturer is no different. The Mclaren Artura is just that. A mid engine layout with hybrid tech makes for a very interesting proposition. I got to spend a couple of days driving the Artura in a very hot Dubai and I did come away surprised. Why? Read on.
Mclaren Artura Exterior
The Artura is the first Mclaren to be based on the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) which is optimized for hybrid purposes. Look at the Artura at first glance and you know that aerodynamics are the clear focus here. You cannot mistake that nose to be anything else and those arrow style LED headlamps are trademarks of modern Mclaren. The test car finished in this Silica White shade and black multispoke alloys looked smashing. The red brake calipers added a nice contrast to the black wheels which come in 19 inchers at the front and 20 at the rear. And I just love those butterfly doors. Just takes the cool quotient notches higher. The rear features very slim tail lamps and twin exhausts mounted high up between the tail lamps flanked by the Artura lettering in the centre. There is no rear bumper per say, but the rear diffuser sits low up from the ground. Bend down and you can even see the gearbox which is clearly sticking out from the back. Then there are massive air inlets upfront below the nose, in the sidepods and at the rear under the tail lights. Overall its quite smashing to look at with just the right dimensions. For the record the Artura measures 4,539 mm in length, 2,080 mm in width and 1,193mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.
