Maruti Suzuki is making no attempt to protect its latest offering from being spied upon. Seen here is their newest MPV, christened the XL6. While it bears a striking resemblance to Maruti’s Ertiga, there is more to it than meets the eye.
The XL6 is powered by the same 1.5L K15B SHVS petrol engine as in the Ertiga but shall be in compliance with the BS6 emission norms. The engine shall get a 5-speed manual transmission outfitted as standard while offering a 4-speed torque converter as an option.
The car has received many styling updates to differentiate it from the Ertiga, namely sharper headlights and a two slat grille up front, and a lot of black plastic cladding around the skirt and wheel arches to impart an imposing stance. This is further accentuated by blacked-out door pillars and alloy wheels that work in conjunction with hints of satin silver skid plates under the sculpted bumpers.
The XL6 shall retail through Maruti’s Nexa channel that deals in the more opulent portfolio of the marque. It is due for an August launch and shall be pitted against fellow MPVs such as the Mahindra Marazzo.
