Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps off the new EVX concept at the Auto Expo 2023. The Maruti EVX is car maker’s first foray into the EV space in India. It is their first born electric SUV and will go on sale in 2025.
The new electric SUV will be built on a dedicated EV architecture and is the stepping stone to a range of full EVs from Maruti in the coming years. Dimensions wise, the SUV will be will be 4,300mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,600mm high. The concept features a 60kWh battery with a claimed range of 550 kms on a single charge. Expect something similar on the production versions as well. A smaller battery pack could also be offered as an option.
The styling of the Maruti EVX concept is a breakaway from traditional Maruti design language. It has lots of cuts and creases along with short overhangs and a sloping roofline. The overall styling does give a coupe look. Let’s hope this kind of styling makes it o the production version as well.
Maruti has said that Suzuki Motor Corporation has committed to invest Rs. 100 billion in India for development and production of EVs.
