Mahindra Thar Roxx Interior

One you climb up into the Roxx, the cabin will surprise you. The Roxx gets white leatherette interiors though it makes it look plush but it will always a challenge to maintain. Considering the DNA of the Roxx is that of an off-roader and now a clear focus on it being a family friendly, there are high chances of the interiors requiring a thorough clean at regular intervals especially after a long day of off-roading. The dash is straight out of Thar 3-Door, however nice soft touch materials replace the hard plastics. There are even some nice piano black elements around. The flat bottom steering wheel is from the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. It doesn’t get telescopic adjust though.  The front seats are ventilated which is a must have feature in our country. The power window switches have been moved to the doors. The old school 4×4 lever has been retained and that’s a good thing. There are grab handles on the A B pillars both. Will make climbing in easier. The centre armrest offers good support and the driver’s side armrest can be extended as well. The glove box is bigger than that of the 3 door Thar and gets cooling function as well.  The ATs get a dead pedal whereas it is missed out on the MT variants. We feel the dead pedal is a boon irrespective of the type of transmission the car is running on. The Thar Roxx now gets remote fuel release. You no longer need the key to open the fuel filler lid.

The Thar Roxx gets a 10.25 inch all-digital cluster and a 10.25inch Adrenox infotainment screen with tons of apps. The infotainment screen might feel a bit too cluttered until you are used to it. The screen flashes some cool on-road and off-road data that will keep all the stat gurus happy. The Roxx carries a healthy list of equipment like automatic climate control, Harman Kardon sound system with sub woofer, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, auto dimming mirror, wireless charging, blind spot monitoring system, electronic parking brake, 6-Airbags, Level 2 ADAS, Electronic Parking Brake and many more.

The seats feel comfortable with enough cushioning and bolstering. The driver seat can be electrically adjusted to find the right driving position. The rear seats are as good as the front and the longer wheelbase has been put to optimal use. The flat floor helps 3 people of sit at the back. However, 3 well built people might struggle. There is ample of headroom on both front and back row of seats. AC vents at the rear are a welcome addition

Another highlight of the Roxx is the boot space that was sorely missed in the 3 door. The 644 litre boot will carry sufficient bags not only sideway as it can be stacked on top of another thanks to adequate vertical space. The second row can also be folded down.
