Step inside and you immediately get the Lexus vibes. The dark interiors with the layered dashboard sets the mood for what's to come.
Lexus UX300e Performance
The Lexus UX300e is powered by a single electric motor putting out 204 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque going to the front wheels. It comes with a 54.3 kWh battery pack. Lexus claims a 0 to 100 kph time of 7.5 seconds. There are also three driving modes Eco, Normal and Sport. I mostly drove it around in Eco mode where acceleration is controlled but smooth. Normal strikes a good balance while Sport can put a smile on your face with fast acceleration bursts. You can control regen braking with the paddle shifters, but the regen levels are not really strong enough to allow you single pedal driving. If you have driven Lexus hybrids before, this will be a familiar space. Only difference being you are in silent model the time. The UX300e is perfect for relaxed driving.
Lexus UX300e Ride & Handling
The suspension is well calibrated for comfort and the UX rides flat. You will have some vertical movement over large bumps and undulations. Ground clearance is also less because of the low placement of the battery. You have to be careful when navigating large speed breakers else you are sure to bottom out on them. Handling feels neutral and the UX is no corner caver and there is body roll. While grip is good, the steering lacks outright feel.
Lexus UX300e Charging
The UX300e features a CHAdeMO plug for DC fast charging. It can charge to 80 percent in under an hour via a 50 kW fast charger. While Lexus claims a range of 300 plus kms, expect a more realistic range of around 260 to 270 kms.
