My first memory of the Lexus brand was the sighting of a couple of LS400 sedans parked in a mall in Dubai to be given as lucky draw prizes in 1989, the year that the Lexus brand was launched globally. India’s first tryst with Lexus was of course being known as late stock broker Harshad Mehta’s car. He was indeed one of the first to import an example into India. Since then, Lexus has been a very popular marque in here with a host of private imports coming in over the years and not to mention, its popularity in the Bollywood circles with the LX470 SUV. The ES300h is a popular model in the Lexus lineup and an extended weekend was perfect to spend some quality time with this sedan.
Lexus ES300h Exterior
The ES is based on the Toyota Camry sedan but before you rule it out as just a rebadged Camry, not everything is same as the Toyota cousin. Just one look at it should make things clear. The ES has its own distinctive styling. The large Lexus spindle grille, which is the face of all current Lexus models, gives a very intimidating and aggressive look. The slim headlamps with the arrow style daytime running lamps add a lot of character to the front. Also notice the L shaped fog lamp inserts. The side of the car has very subtle styling with sporty side skirts. The ES is quite long at 4.9 metres. The rear too has a clean look with L shaped tail lamps that feature LED elements. The lip spoiler on the boot is also a nice touch.
