LaFerrari Spider shown at private event?
There is news that Italian super car maker Ferrari organized a private event on the weekend to showcase the LaFerrari Spider to customers.
There were already reports that Ferrari was planning a drop top version of their flagship super car and it was being said that the car was being prepared to celebrate 70 years of the company. Contradictory reports are saying that Ferrari is designing a a special model to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the company. This could be true because the La Ferrari Spider is expected to be revealed this year while the Anniversary model will break cover in 2017.
Apparently all units of the LaFerrari Spider have found buyers and sources say that FXX K customers were given first preference. Ferrari is planning to make only 150 units of the LaFerrari Spider but production could go up to 200 units as well. Prices are expected to be significantly higher than the Coupe version. There is no info on the roof configuration yet but it would be brilliant if the LaFerrari Spider came with a foldable hardtop like the 458 Spider and 488 Spider.Mechanically the LaFerrari Spider should be unchanged. Power comes from a 6.3 litre V12 engine that develops 789 bhp and 700 Nm torque. It also comes with a onboard KERS unit that makes 161 bhp (HY-KERS). This gives the LaFerrari a combined power output of 950 bhp. It comes with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox that sends power to the rear wheel. The LaFerrari goes from 0 to 100 kph in 2.7 seconds and has a claimed top speed of over 365 kph.
The LaFerrari Spider could go on sale in June this year the Ferrari Cavalcade 2016.
