The 2017 Jeep Compass has just been revealed and what we have here is a rendering of a pickup based on the new SUV.
The rendering is created by Theophilus Chin by combining the Compass and parts of the Ford Toro pickup truck. The rendering artist says “So it’s obvious the new Jeep Compass shares platform with Fiat Toro. They even share some common parts (windscreen and front windows). So will we be surprised if this Jeep version of the Toro pickup truck appears?”
Jeep is already working on a pickup version of the next generation Wrangler so its not sure if the Compass pick up would become a reality anytime soon. But we admit it is quite the looker to be honest.
The Jeep Compass looks like a smaller version of its bigger sibling, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It features a dual tone exterior, a slimmer grille with tapering headlights, squared wheel arches, large alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. It is expected to be powered by a localised 2.0 litre Fiat Multijet engine. The Compass is expected to come with a host of features including the U-Connect Infotainment system, climate control and push button start. A seven seat option is also expected.
The Jeep Compass will come to India in the year next year and will be produced at Fiat’s plant at Ranjangaon. Jeep officially launched in India last month with three models: The Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. All three SUVS are sold in India as fully imported CBUs. The Jeep Compass will however come with a lower price tag thanks to local assembly.
