The Jeep Compass been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 14.95 lakh ex showroom going up to Rs 20.65 lakh for the top end diesel 4×4. This fantastic pricing is sure to shake up things in the segment. Jeep officially entered the India market in August 2016 with the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler which came with eye watering CBU price tags.
The Made in India Jeep Compass comes with two engine options. The first is a 2.0 litre Multijet diesel motor developing 170 horsepower and 350 Nm torque. It comes in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. The diesel gets only a 6 speed manual gearbox. The other engine is a 1.4 litre MultiAir petrol unit developing 160 horses and 250 Nm torque. The petrol comes only in 4×2 guise. Transmissions include a 6 speed manual and 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
The Jeep Compass gets over 50 safety features. These include six airbags including dual stage passenger airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Steering Torque (DST), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Adaptive Brake Lights and Panic Brake Assist.
The Jeep Compass will be sold out of 50 Jeep-flagship and FCA outlets, across 47 cities at the time of launch and further expand to 60 outlets by the end of this year. FCA has now introduced its Global service and customer care brand Mopar in India. All 48 FCA authorized workshops across 48 Indian cities are now Mopar-branded and technicians are specially trained as per global standards and diagnostic techniques to attend to all service-related issues should they arise. Mopar, an 80-year old North American after-sales and customer service brand will be managing services related to vehicle insurance, extended warranty, annual maintenance packages, Jeep® Express Lane service, battery program and tyre replacement program, right across India, under the Mopar Vehicle Protection plan.
The Compass comes with a three-year / 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and in addition, a complimentary Road-side Assistance (RSA) package for three years. Extended warranty is available for one or two years
