A popular compact SUV, not only in India but all over the world, the second generation Jeep Compass is now due for a mid-life facelift. This vehicle is expected to come with a number of cosmetic changes on the exterior as well as interior, while retaining the rugged and highly capable mechanical bits this second-generation model is known to have. This teaser image released by Jeep informs us that the company will unveil this new model, digitally, on the 4th of June. Expect Jeep to offer this new model in the Indian market as well, where it would compete against the likes of the new Skoda Karoq, the Volkswagen T-Roc, Tata Harrier and some others.

This facelift model is expected to sport minor styling changes, with perhaps newly designed bumpers. The signature seven-slot front grille can be expected to get a new placement along with LED illumination for the headlights and DRLs. Not many changes can be expected on the side profile of the car, with the exception of newly designed alloy wheels. On the inside, the biggest change expected is the inclusion of the latest UConnect5 infotainment system which will come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity options.

A major change is also expected under the bonnet of the car. A new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to replace the current 1.4-litre motor. This new motor, despite being smaller in size, is available with some additional power. Offered in two states of tune, this motor can generate a maximum of 180 PS/270Nm, however, Jeep may also offer the 150PS/270Nm tune to offer better fuel economy to its clients. Accompanying this petrol motor would be the 2-litre oil-burner, good for 170 PS and 350 Nm. Both these engines will come with a manual and automatic gearbox option, with the diesel also getting the option of a 4×4 drivetrain. Currently, the Compass retails between INR 16.49 Lakh to INR 21.92 Lakh for the petrol, INR 17.99 Lakh to INR 22.43 Lakh for the diesel 4×2 and INR 21.96 Lakh to INR 27.60 Lakh for the diesel 4×4 models. Expect to pay a premium over this pricing when the new facelift model makes its way to India.
