The legendary Jawa marque has made a comeback to the Indian market. Class Legends that was formed by Anand Mahindra, Anupam Thareja and Boman Irani has the rights for the brand in our country.
The first model is the Jawa that gets its name from the brand itself is priced at Rs. 1.64 lakh while the second model, the Forty two is priced at Rs. 1.55 lakh ex showroom Delhi.
Both the motorcycles are powered by a 293cc single cylinder 4 stroke liquid cooled engine that develops 27 bhp and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The engine for the Jawa motorcycles is BS VI compliant.
The Jawa sits low with a seat height of 765 mm with a wheelbase of 1369 mm. It weights 170 kg and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. At the front, the Jawa rides on 90/90 18 rubber with 120/80 17 profile tyre at the rear. Suspension comprises of telescopic hydraulic folks at the front and Gas canister twin hydraulic shocks at the rear.
A third bike called the Perak was also unveiled. With Bobber like styling it is priced at Rs. 1.89 lakh ex showroom Delhi and will go on sale at a later date. It is powered by a 334cc liquid cooled single cylinderDOHC engine that puts out 30 bhp and 31 Nm of torque.
The Jawa will come in three colour options: Maroon, Grey and Black. The Jawa Forty two gets six colours: Glossy Metallic Red, Glossy Dark Blue, Matt Moss Green, Matt Pastel Blue, Matt Pastel Green and Matt Blue.
Bookings for the Jawa bikes are open online at www.jawamotorcycles.com. Deliveries will begin early 2019. Jawa has appointed 105 dealers across India and the first dealership will be operational in December 2018.
