Jaguar XF L teased ahead of Beijing
Jaguar has released a teaser image of the XF L sedan prior to its debut at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. It is the first model to be built in China by the car maker.
The Jaguar XF L will be locally assembled at JLR’s factory in Changshu (north of Shanghai). The Range Rover Evoque and the Discovery sport are also produced at the same plant. It will be the first Jaguar to roll off the assembly line in China. The Jaguar XF L is being produce in collaboration with JLR’s joint venture partner, Chinese car company Chery Automobile. JLR and Chery have inaugurated a body shop worth $1.7 billion to cater the XF, XE, and F-Pace models.
JLR was supposed to open a new engine plat at Changshu itself last year that would make the 2.0 Ingenium turbo charged petrol engine. Things didnt go through then but a company spokesperson says that the facility will be opened in the next few months.
The Jaguar XF L will essentially be a stretched version of the XF sedan offering more legroom to rear passengers. The car will join the likes of the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6 who also sell long wheelbase versions in China.
Other details on the XF L will be known when the car debuts at the Beijing Motor Show on April 25, 2016.
