Jaguar to discontinue ‘R-S’ and ‘R-S GT’ badges. Will use ‘SVR’ for hardcore versions
Jaguar has announced that it will discontinue the ‘R-S’ and the ‘R-S GT’ badges after the company discovered that they were confusing customers.
Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) boss John Edwards revealed plans to axe the two badges during an interview with Car and Driver. He said that customers were confused between the two variants that were offered above the ‘R’ badge that Jaguar has been usiing since the 90s.
All top of the line performance oriented models will now sport the ‘SVR’ badge. All SVR cars are going to be built along side the lesser powerful models on the same assembly line and won’t be just limited-run models.
The first SVR badged model was the Range Rover Sport SVR and that could be followed by the Jaguar F-Type SVR.
