Ford has unveiled a limited edition model of the 2017 GT called the Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition. This car celebrates the 1966 Le Mans-winning GT40 Mark II race car driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. On the exterior, the Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition features a Shadow Black paint job in either gloss or matte finish with silver stripes and exposed carbon fibre package. The car sports the Frozen White #2 hood and door graphics, and is shod with20-inch one-piece forged aluminum alloy wheels in a gold satin finish with black lug nuts. The interior features carbon-fibre seats in Ebony leather with pillowed inserts and plow-through stitching. The Ford GT logo is embossed on the head restraints and the steering wheel. The instrument panel, pillars and headliner also feature an Ebony-leather wrap, with gold trimson the instrument panel, the seat’s X-brace and shift paddles.The steering comes wrapped in leather and the seats have a unqiue blue webbing just like it was on the 1966 racing car.
Mechanically the car remains unchanged. A 3.5-litre V6 engine will power the Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition.The Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition will get a unique identification plate that will signify the serial number of the limited edition car. It will only be available in the MY 2017 GT and only 250 examples will be built.
