New Ferrari 812 Superfast revealed
Ferrari has taken the wraps off the newest addition to its model line up, the 812 Superfast. The latest V12 from the Prancing Horse stables, the Ferrari 812 Superfast will make its global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast features an all new 6.5 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that develops 789 horsepower at 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 718 Nm, 80 % of which is available from 3500 rpm. The new engine adopts a 350 bar direct injection system for the very first time with variable geometry intake tracts derived from NA Formula 1 engines. Ferrari claims a 0 to 100 kph dah in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of more than 340 kph. The V12 engine is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari to feature Electric Power steering. Other features include the latest 5.0 version of Ferrari’s patented Side Slip Control (SSC), the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system (PCV) seen on the F12tdf which improves the nimbleness of the handling.
On the exterior, the 812 Superfast sprts a two box design with high tail end inspired by the 365 GTB4 of 1969. There are full LED headlamps along with muscular wheel arches and sculpted air intakes on the bonnet. The rear gets four round tail-lights. The front also incorporates a cluster of aerodynamic solutions including active flaps at the front of the underbody, and a rear flank which features an unprecedented aerodynamic by-pass to increase downforce. On the interior, the 812 Superfast gets a horizontal dash that loops around the central air vents. It also gets more sporty and ergonomic seats. There is a new steering wheel and instrument cluster, the latest infotainment system and air conditioning.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast is being launched in a special new colour, Rosso Settanta, which marks the company’s 70th anniversary.
