One can spot many Ferrari prototypes if one walks through the streets of Maranello. Ferrari recently unveiled the successor to the 458 Italia, the 488 GTB and already seems to be working on the open top version of the car.

Here are spy shots of a test mule doing the rounds outside the Ferrari factory. On looking closely, one can see that the roof mechanism is similar to that on the 458 Spider which means the 488 will get a electric folding hard top.

Going by how Ferrari launches the Spider versions of their cars 2 years after the coupe, the 488 Spider could be launched in 2017.
