Ford will not be getting the twin turbo version of the new 2.0 litre diesel engine to India. Ford entered the BS VI era with a new 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine referred to as the ‘Panther’ in the Ford engine family.
This engine with a single turbo makes 170 horsepower in the India spec version of the Endeavour, but a twin turbo version making 213 horses is also offered in global markets where the SUV is sold as the Everest.
Ford sold the Endeavour with a 3.2 litre 5 cylinder diesel in India along side a 2.2 litre unit before moving to BS VI and this twin turbo unit with 213 hp and 500 Nm would have been an ideal replacement. The 2.0 litre motor feels more of a successor to the 2.2 engine.
The twin turbo engine is expected only when the next gen Ford Endeavour comes to India, which wont be before the second half 2021, after its launch in the international markets. Spy shots of the new Endeavour have already surfaced online.
