Citroen C5 Aircross Ride & Handling
Citroen has been talking a lot about the ride quality and suspension of the C5 in the build up to the launch and after driving, it’s easy to see why. I drove the C5 on the regular route that I usually do and it does have a mix of smooth tarmac with broken patches and uneven roads on many stretches. It just glides over bad roads and offers phenomenal ride quality. I didn’t feel the need to slow down on any of the undulations on the road surface. The C5 uses what Citroen calls ‘Progressive Hydraulic Cushions’. They keep the suspension movement under control when you hit hard bumps giving you that gliding feeling. As far as handling goes, there is noticeable body roll while going around corners, but grip levels are good and the steering feels responsive as well. There is no 4×4, but you do get traction control models like mud and snow, that are good enough for mild off-roading. But clearly, the C5 Aircross is not aimed at spirited driving but more focused on a comfortable and relaxed drive.
