Hyundai have officially commenced bookings for their new compact SUV, the Venue. The sub 4 meter car will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra XUV300. Bookings can be made either on the Hyundai India website, or through dealerships across the country, for a token amount of Rs. 21,000.
The Venue is the first Hyundai in India to sport an updated design language. The new head lamps are in a split cluster style, with high seating LED daytime running lights. The tail lamps have been squared off too. The overall stature of the car is quite SUV like, with large wheel arches and 16 inch alloy wheels to fill them. The top end variants will also get a sunroof.
The Venue will be offered in two petrol and one diesel variant. One of the two petrol variants is a 4 cylinder 1.2 liter naturally aspirated motor churning out 83 BHP and 115 N-m of torque and mated to a 5 speed manual gear box. The other is a 3 cylinder 1.0 liter turbocharged motor making 120 BHP and 172 N-m of torque, with either a dual clutch automatic or 6 speed manual gearbox. The diesel variant is a 1.4 liter motor putting out 90 BHP and 220 N-m of torque. This will only have a 6 speed manual gearbox.
The Venue gets in-car data and connectivity by Blue-Link, which is a connected car feature powered by a built in Vodafone SIM card. The car key can remotely control engine start/stop, climate control, door lock/unlock and comes with a particularly useful Find-my-car function. The Venue also gets app based live car tracking, geo-fencing and speed alerts. Apart from these features, the Venue also gets a touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Hyundai Venue will launch in India on 21st May, 2019
